What is Luma MCP?

The Luma MCP server gives AI agents access to your Luma (lu.ma) account. That means agents can create and update events, manage guest lists and RSVPs, approve or decline guests, send invitations, create free and paid ticket types and discount coupons, import and tag people in your calendar directory, and manage membership tiers. It covers the full event lifecycle, so an AI agent can both answer questions about your events and run them for you.

If you spend time setting up events by hand, copying RSVPs into a spreadsheet, approving guests one by one, or moving contacts between your CRM and Luma, an AI agent can take over a lot of that work. Describe what you need, and your AI agent will handle the event operations for you.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard that gives AI agents a way to connect to external tools and services. Instead of writing code against the Luma API, handling pagination and the x-luma-api-key header, and parsing responses yourself, you add your Luma API key to Gumloop once. After that, you manage your events just by asking your AI agent in plain language.

What you can do with Luma MCP on Gumloop

  • Create and update events

Spin up events with a name, date, timezone, location or meeting URL, capacity, visibility, and branding (including Markdown descriptions, a custom lu.ma/your-event slug, and a cover image) in a single call. Update any field later, and suppress notifications when you don’t want to ping guests.

  • Manage guest lists and RSVPs

List guests for an event, filter by status (approved, pending approval, invited, waitlist, declined), and add guests directly. Approve or decline registrations (with an optional refund) so an AI agent can triage your RSVPs.

  • Send personalized invitations

Send event invites to a list of people with a custom message, so outreach campaigns go out without manual sends from the Luma dashboard.

  • Sell tickets and create discount codes

Create and manage free and paid ticket types with prices, currencies, capacities, and approval rules, plus percent-off or fixed-amount coupons at the event or calendar level. Useful for AI-generated promo codes and dynamic pricing.

  • Build and segment your people directory

Search and browse your calendar’s contact directory, bulk-import people (great for CRM-to-Luma sync), and filter by membership tier, status, or tag. Create, apply, and remove tags on both people and events to keep everything organized.

  • Manage membership programs

List your membership tiers, add members (with an optional payment skip), and update member statuses. Handy for automated community onboarding.

  • Add co-hosts and collaborators

Add hosts to an event with configurable access levels (none, check-in, or manager) and visibility, so the right people can help run each event.

  • Find and look up events

List events by date range, sort them chronologically, or look one up by its URL or API ID, so an AI agent can always find the event you mean.

Luma MCP use cases

AI-assisted event creation for community organizers

Hand an AI agent a brief or a row from a spreadsheet and have it create the Luma event end to end (name, date, location, Markdown description, custom slug, capacity, and cover), then update details as plans change. Organizers launch events in seconds instead of filling out the form each time.

RSVP triage and guest approvals for event marketers

An AI agent can pull the guest list, approve or decline registrations against your criteria (with refunds where needed), and send personalized invites to a target list. Marketers manage a clean guest list without clicking through every pending request.

CRM-to-Luma contact sync

Pull contacts from your CRM or a sheet with another MCP tool, have an AI agent bulk-import them into your Luma directory, and apply tags for segmentation. Your event audience stays in sync with the rest of your stack.

Automated ticketing and promo codes for paid events

Create free and paid ticket tiers and generate discount coupons programmatically. For example, create an agent that spins up a time-limited promo code and a matching ticket type whenever you launch a new event.

Community membership onboarding

When someone joins your community, an AI agent can add them to the right membership tier (skipping payment when appropriate) and tag them in your directory, turning a manual onboarding step into an automatic one.

Why use Gumloop for Luma MCP

  • Your API key, stored securely (no env vars, no code)

Building your own Luma MCP server means generating an API key, storing it in environment variables, and writing code to handle the x-luma-api-key header, pagination, and the Luma API. With Gumloop you paste your key once and it’s stored securely. No config files, no token rotation, and no code against the Luma API.

  • Works with multiple MCP clients

Use the Luma MCP server endpoint in Claude Desktop, Cursor, or directly inside Gumloop. Same server URL, works with any MCP client.

  • Chain Luma with 100+ other integrations

Combine Luma with Google Calendar, Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, and other MCP tools in a single AI agent. Sync contacts from your CRM, announce new events in Slack, or log RSVPs to a sheet automatically.

  • Enterprise-grade and scalable

Built for teams, with role-based permissions and dedicated support for Pro users. The Luma MCP respects your existing Luma access, so agents only do what your API key is allowed to.

  • Pricing includes a free plan

You can test the Luma MCP integration on Gumloop’s free tier before committing. Paid plans start at $37/month.
