What is Google Cloud Storage MCP?
The Google Cloud Storage MCP server gives AI agents access to your GCS buckets and objects. That means agents can list and inspect buckets, search and read object metadata, upload files, copy and move objects between buckets, delete objects, create new buckets, and generate signed download links. It connects to the same object storage your apps and data pipelines use, so an agent can move files around and share them instead of you running gsutil commands or clicking through the console.
Working with cloud storage by hand means a lot of repetitive plumbing: hunting for the right object, generating a temporary share link, copying files between buckets, and cleaning up what is no longer needed. The Google Cloud Storage MCP server hands that work to an AI agent that can find the object, upload the file, and produce a signed URL. Describe what you need moved or shared, and your AI agent will handle the storage step for you.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI agents call external tools. Normally, working with the Cloud Storage API means wiring up a service account, installing a client library, and writing code against its endpoints. Gumloop wraps all of that behind a hosted server: add your Google Cloud service account key once. After that, you can list buckets, upload and download files, and move objects just by chatting with your AI agent.

What you can do with Google Cloud Storage MCP on Gumloop
Browse buckets
List the buckets your service account can reach, and pull detailed bucket metadata like location, storage class, and versioning configuration.
Search and inspect objects
List and filter objects in a bucket by prefix, delimiter, and date range, and get detailed metadata for a specific object, including size, content type, and checksums.
Generate download links
Create a time-limited signed URL or a public URL for an object, so an agent can share a file without exposing credentials.
Upload files
Push a file from Gumloop into a GCS bucket, with an optional destination path and content type.
Copy and move objects
Copy an object within a bucket or across buckets, or move and rename one.
Delete objects
Remove an object from a bucket when it is no longer needed.
Create buckets
Provision a new bucket with a chosen location and storage class.
How to connect the Gumloop Google Cloud Storage MCP Server
- 1
Create a free Gumloop account
Sign up at gumloop.com. No credit card required.
- 2
Add the Google Cloud Storage MCP server
Copy your MCP server URL from Gumloop and add it to your preferred client (Claude, Cursor, or Gumloop workflows). You'll authorize on first use.

Start using Google Cloud Storage in your AI workflows
That's it. Your AI agent can now list buckets, upload and download files, and move and share objects. Use it inside a Gumloop automation, in Claude Desktop, or in Cursor.
Google Cloud Storage MCP use cases
Archive processed files for data teams
After a pipeline finishes, an agent uploads the outputs to a GCS bucket or moves processed files into an archive bucket, keeping the working bucket clean.
Secure file sharing for ops
An agent generates a signed URL that expires after a set time and sends the link by email or Slack, so a partner can download a file without any standing access.
Asset delivery for content teams
An agent uploads a generated image or document into a bucket and returns a public URL, so the asset is ready to embed or hand off.
Storage cleanup for engineering
An agent searches a bucket by prefix and date range, then deletes or moves the objects that match, so old data does not pile up.
Bucket provisioning for new projects
When a new project spins up, an agent creates a bucket in the right location and storage class so the team has a place to store data from day one.
Why use Gumloop for Google Cloud Storage MCP
Add your key once, no code
Working with the Cloud Storage API directly means wiring up a service account and a client library. With Gumloop you add your Google Cloud service account JSON key one time and it is stored securely, and its short-lived tokens refresh on their own. No client library, no code.
Works with multiple MCP clients
Use the same hosted Google Cloud Storage MCP server in Gumloop, Claude, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible clients. Same server URL, works with any MCP client.
Chain Cloud Storage with 100+ integrations
An agent can generate a file elsewhere, upload it to a GCS bucket, and post a signed download link to Slack, all in a single run.
Enterprise-grade hosting
Gumloop hosts the server for you and works within the permissions of the service account you provide, so an agent can only reach the buckets that key allows. See trust.gumloop.com for security details.
Free to start
Gumloop has a free tier so you can try the Google Cloud Storage MCP server at no cost. Paid plans start at $37/month.
