8 powerful marketing automation examples for B2B teams

This entire year, I've been determined to get good at marketing automation.

In my decade-long career, there's never been a more exciting time to be a marketer than now. We have so many AI tools at our disposal. But at the same time, it can get a bit confusing.

Lots of noise with very little signal.

Which is why I decided to write this up. I want to show you some of the best marketing automation examples I've come across (and many which I personally use).

These aren't the regular old automations you hear of like setting up follow-up emails or using some marketing automation software to write subject lines for your outreach emails.

These are actual examples of marketing automation that are embedded into real-time workflows. The same workflows that used to require a team of people to do.

I'm sure you're going to get some really cool ideas from this article, so I'm not going to ramble any more. Let's get into it.

What is AI automation in marketing?

In marketing, AI automation means automating repetitive tasks in your workflow and leveraging the power of AI (through LLMs) to make decisions on your behalf. It's essentially what this whole AI agent trend is.

Automation in marketing isn't anything new, it's existed for well over a decade now. But now it's coming back around as AI is powering many of the tools we use today. For example, in the past you could create an automation that connected a form on your website to a Google Sheet. When somebody filled out that form, you could use a platform like Zapier to then send that information automatically into a spreadsheet.

Now with AI automation, you can still do that, but you can use newer tools that allow you to leverage LLM technology like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Grok, or Claude to do more with that information in the spreadsheet. For example, you can use an AI automation tool to then automatically take that form that was submitted on your website and send it to the spreadsheet and then draft up an email with Claude that will then automatically send through Gmail.

This is just an example, but you can see that it pretty much adds an AI layer over existing automations, which now allows you to do a lot more than what you could do just a few years ago.

And in fact, there are a lot of these different AI workflow builders now, and I've tested probably over a dozen at this point for my media company and marketing agency. But let's quickly go over my favorite tool below.

What is the best marketing automation tool?

They’re a handful of great marketing automation tools right now, but the one I've been using for the past 10 months that I've come to love is Gumloop. I used to use Zapier for automations back in the pre-LLM days. But Gumloop has won my heart given that it's an AI-first approach to automation (and amazing user experience).

Gumloop can automate any task and integrates with any existing tool while adding an LLM layer on top. It's great for agencies, startups trying to leverage AI to get more done, and enterprise companies that want to create AI processes across their teams.

It’s also free to start using (no confusing pricing model) and you don’t even need to sign up for an account to build your first automation.

But, I don’t want to be biased. So if you want to check out some other marketing automation tools, and evaluate them yourself, you can check out this blog post I wrote.

Now let's go over some of my favorite marketing automation examples and ideas. These aren't the basic ones like setting up lead nurturing, setting up onboarding welcome emails, ecommerce abandoned cart emails, or any sort of simple email campaign automation. We all know about those and the tools that can help do that.

The automations I'm going to show below are way more advanced and touch on different areas like social media, outreach, YouTube, and blogging. I'm really excited to show you these examples, so let's just jump into it.

8 marketing automation examples and ideas you can copy

Here are some marketing automation examples you can use:

  1. Automated social media monitoring
  2. SEO AI audit
  3. YouTube video to blog transcript
  4. AI Slack assistant
  5. Weekly AI report of brand mentions
  6. Lead enrichment with AI decision making
  7. LinkedIn company page scraper
  8. Personalized lead outreach

Okay, let’s go over each example.

1. Automated social media monitoring

  • Best for: Brands monitoring mentions and sentiment across multiple social platforms

One of the coolest use cases for using marketing automation I've seen is to create a social media monitoring tool. If you're a brand that has a ton of noise going around on social media, it's really important to know what people are not only saying about your brand but where you can find opportunities to create better customer experiences.

With an automated social media monitoring tool, you can create an AI agent that monitors all your social media profiles on Reddit, X, Discourse, or whatever, and then analyzes each post with AI to filter for relevant content based off of your criteria and prompts.

Automating social media moderation

Here's what you can do with it:

  • Store these posts in a database for future reporting and insights
  • Surface the most important posts that your team can act on
  • Send posts with feature requests into a spreadsheet labeled feature request and send it to your development team
  • Send posts with negative brand sentiment to your marketing team to create content around to address issues

Having AI handle all this for you at scale not only just helps you with knowing what posts to respond to, what features to create based off of real user feedback, but also helps you identify trends in your community so you can see how people think of your brand as a whole.

This tool is something that a team at Webflow actually built with Gumloop, and there's a full course on how to build this along with a template so you can get started right away. You can check out the video here:

2. SEO AI audit

SEO AI audit example
  • Best for: SEO agencies, freelancers, and in-house marketers who need to create detailed audit reports quickly without manually analyzing data from multiple SEO tools

Next up is creating an SEO AI audit tool that can help you automate audit reports really fast. Whether you're an agency owner, an SEO freelancer, or working in-house managing SEO for your startup, there's a good chance that you have to do an SEO audit.

If you're not well-versed in SEO as a marketing channel, then it's going to be hard to understand what to look out for.

With this SEO audit tool, you can input any URL and then mention if you want an overall site performance audit, a page optimization audit for on-page SEO, or a keyword optimization for your written content.

Then you can simply automate a report through just plain text and a doc or a PDF. What this automation essentially does in the background is:

  • Scrape the web page
  • Send that page through Semrush's API to get real SEO data
  • Then leverage Claude to write a report based off of the data that it generates from Semrush

What you get is a fully automated process by just inputting a URL, some basic information on what you're looking for, and clicking run. Instead of going to Semrush, typing in a keyword, sifting through data, then pulling that data and creating a report, you can save hours by just using this AI SEO agent.

3. YouTube video to blog transcript

YouTube to blog post transcript AI agent
  • Best for: Content creators who want to repurpose YouTube videos into blog posts without the AI-generated content feel

I've recently been experimenting with turning some of my best blog posts on my website into YouTube videos and then embedding those videos on my site. And the result has been that I've been able to rank number one for some really competitive keywords like "AI marketing," outranking some huge brands.

But as I've been thinking about this, I've decided that I should also go really deep into YouTube, and if I simply focus on recording the best video and then leveraging that transcript to then write the blog post, I could save an entire afternoon of blog writing.

And that's where this marketing automation example comes into play. Creating a YouTube video to blog transcript is such a clean way to create original blog posts that don't sound like AI slop. This is assuming that you have an original YouTube video that you didn't use AI to write the script with.

What this automation does is:

  • Integrate with YouTube MCP
  • Extract the transcript from a video
  • Then use AI to draft a blog post
  • And then it sends that blog post into a Google Doc for you to review

It's super powerful and you can build this automation in minutes by just going to Gumloop and using one of the options in the chatbot (named Gummie).

4. AI Slack assistant

AI Slackbot marketing automation example
  • Best for: Teams with documents scattered across multiple platforms who need instant access to information without leaving Slack

If you're on a marketing, sales, or customer service team and you have documents all over the place like in Notion, your CRM, Google Docs, and just scattered everywhere, creating a Slackbot automation is the best way to bring all of that information into Slack.

This automation works by integrating Slack with all of your tools that you use, this way you can simply just chat with your docs and update your internal systems directly through Slack.

Can't remember where that marketing strategy doc was in your Drive? Ask the Slack bot to pull it up.

Can't remember where that customer journey data report was? Ask the bot to pull it up.

You get the point. You can literally create your own AI co-worker through Slack by setting up this extremely powerful marketing automation. That's perfect if your sales team also needs information on the fly, so instead of bothering you, they can simply just ask the Slack bot.

You can watch a video on how to create this here.

5. Weekly AI report of brand mentions

Weekly AI report of brand mentions
  • Best for: Brands with active Reddit communities who want to stay on top of conversations and maintain their reputation

If your brand is getting a lot of buzz online and people are talking about it on Reddit, it's a good idea to monitor it and see what people are saying. With this AI automation, you can create an AI agent that sends you weekly reports through email based off of what's going on with your brand on Reddit.

What you can get in your weekly report:

  • The good things people said about your brand
  • The neutral things
  • The bad things
  • What's important and that you should probably respond to

This is extremely useful if you're on a social media marketing team and you want to maintain a good reputation with your target demographic. If people see that your brand jumps into conversations and can keep up with what people are saying, it makes your brand stand out from the rest of the companies that just ignore (or simply have no idea) what people are saying about them on Reddit.

This is where really the power of automation shines because now you can use AI to analyze the sentiment of Reddit threads, also using web scraping and automation features, combining it all to create a high-value AI assistant.

6. Lead enrichment with AI decision making

Lead enrichment with AI decision making
  • Best for: Sales teams who want to research prospects and create personalized outreach at scale without paying for multiple tools

The next example of a marketing automation workflow you can build is creating a lead enrichment tool with AI that can also make decisions. There are tons of tools out there now that can help you with lead enrichment, but why pay for one tool that can just do one thing when you can use a platform like Gumloop to create multiple different automations with different use cases.

This automation is super powerful because it takes two different workflows and combines them into one:

  • One workflow does research on leads by scraping the web and using Apollo to enrich data
  • Another workflow works by crafting outreach emails to those leads

Combine them together and you get this lead researcher and outreach agent that can identify potential new customers and create a predictable lead generation channel.

The agent can also take care of lead scoring by integrating it with an LLM and it can nurture your customer relationships by giving you updates on who you still need to reach out to or follow up with.

Using an automation like this not only improves your conversion rates, because you're able to reach out to highly qualified people based off of tons of customer data about them around the web, but you're also able to just speed up the entire sales process simply by leveraging existing lead enrichment tools with the power of LLMs.

7. LinkedIn company page scraper

LinkedIn company page scraper
  • Best for: Sales and marketing teams who need to identify and qualify prospects on LinkedIn at scale

Staying on the topic of outreach, the next marketing automation example is creating a LinkedIn scraper that can go out and find your ideal target customers on LinkedIn.

With this automation you can set a criteria of inputs that then go and find people on LinkedIn. From there you can take that list of contacts and send them through AI with whatever LLM model to categorize them based off of whatever criteria you want.

The result is you can create an automation where all you do is input a LinkedIn URL and hit run, and it gives you a full report on the person and gives you a score based off the person's background and expertise (and if they're a good fit for your outreach tools).

You can then combine this example with the one we talked about earlier to help you enrich any more information about the person.

And you can also set up another automation where if this person reaches a certain criteria, you can actually reach out to them. But you don't even have to do that outreach yourself, you can actually leverage another automation that we'll get into next.

8. Personalized lead outreach

Personalized lead outreach automation
  • Best for: Sales teams who want to send highly personalized email marketing campaigns at scale, without spending hours researching each prospect

Say you already have a list of people that you want to reach out to. Using AI, you can have an LLM go through your list of contacts, scrape any personal information about them through a Google search, and then draft up an email in your inbox that's ready to send.

And even if you don't have a list yet, you can use the LinkedIn company scraper or the lead enrichment examples I went over earlier and combine them with this automation to create one main flow that can go from LinkedIn prospect to personalized messages, all in one click.

It's quite literally insane what's possible now with different marketing automation platforms, and now you can enter the next level of automation to help you streamline all of your marketing tasks.

How to do automation in marketing?

To get the best results with marketing automation, you first need to have a workflow nailed down that you can do manually. Regardless of whatever AI marketing tool you use to automate your tasks, you still need to be great at doing it yourself first.

You simply cannot automate what you can't teach someone else. And these tools act as little assistants or junior marketers that still need a lot of guidance from you. So if you have no idea where you're going, you're not going to get a good output from these tools.

So to get the most out of your marketing efforts with automation tools, here are the steps you need to go through to do this:

  • Master a workflow that you can teach anyone how to do
  • Find an automation platform like Gumloop that can help you build your first AI workflow
  • Build and iterate on your marketing campaigns
  • Use the tool yourself or turn it into an app that your team members can use internally

It's really that simple.

But simple isn't always easy and you definitely need to go through a learning curve with using automation tools. I'm not going to sugarcoat that. If it was super easy, then everybody would be doing it and you probably wouldn't be reading this right now.

But that's where your advantage is, because if you are reading this, it means you actually care about learning how to automate your tasks. That's why the team at Gumloop, specifically Aaron the head of community, has created Gumloop University.

These are a series of free courses to help you get smarter with marketing automation.

You can check out the University here.

And if you want to just jump into creating your first automation, you can go straight to the Gumloop Hub (completely free) and start talking to the AI assistant, Gummie, and tell it what you want to build. It's as simple as talking to ChatGPT.
