To use this MCP, you need a Gumloop account. If you don't have one yet, sign up and start a 14-day free trial.

2

Add and authorize the Scholar Gateway server

In Gumloop, open Connectors and add Scholar Gateway. Depending on the app, you'll either sign in via OAuth or paste an API key. Either way, the credential is stored securely in Gumloop.

Tools (1)

  • Semantic Search

Searches a full-text academic corpus and returns relevant passages with citation metadata. Use for research questions, factual claims, literature-backed explanations, evidence-based summaries, and in any responses where academic support would improve accuracy, credibility, or depth. Submit queries as complete natural language questions, preserving the full intent — do not reduce to keywords. For ambiguous or polysemous terms, always expand to their full context before searching: use "multiple sclerosis" not "MS", "Java programming language" not "Java". Prefer precise scientific or clinical terminology over colloquial terms: use "rhinovirus upper respiratory tract infection" rather than "common cold". Cite all substantive claims inline using author-year format with DOI hyperlinks. If no results are returned, broaden the query or try an alternative framing — do not retry the same query.
