What is Microsoft Teams MCP?
The Microsoft Teams MCP server gives AI agents access to your Microsoft Teams workspace. That means agents can browse teams and channels, read channel messages and threads, post messages and replies, read and send direct and group chats, schedule and manage meetings, and create channels and manage membership. It works across your channels and chats, so an AI agent can both keep up with conversations and act on them.
If you spend time copying updates into Teams, scheduling meetings by hand, or setting up new project channels and adding everyone to them, an AI agent can take over a lot of that work. Describe what you need done in Microsoft Teams, and your AI agent will handle the messaging and scheduling for you.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard that gives AI agents a way to connect to external tools and services. Instead of registering an Azure app, configuring Microsoft Graph API permissions, and managing tokens, you connect your Microsoft account once. After that, you work in Teams just by asking your AI agent in plain language.

What you can do with Microsoft Teams MCP on Gumloop
Browse teams and channels
List the teams you’re a member of, get a team’s details, channels, and members, and see who’s in a specific channel. A fast way for an agent to find the right place to read or post.
Read channel messages and threads
Pull messages from a channel, get all replies to a message, and search for a thread by subject and read its replies.
Post messages and replies to channels
Send a message to a channel or reply in an existing thread, so an agent can deliver alerts, updates, and answers where the team is working.
Read and send direct and group chats
List your direct and group chats, read a conversation’s history, start a new direct or group chat, and send messages to it. Useful for one-to-one nudges and small-group coordination.
Schedule and manage meetings
Create online meetings, update their details, list upcoming meetings, and cancel one when plans change. An agent can run scheduling end to end.
Create channels and manage membership
Create a new channel in a team, and add users to teams and channels. Spin up a space for a project or incident and get the right people in it in seconds.

Microsoft Teams MCP use cases
AI alerts and notifications for ops teams
When something happens in another system, like a new lead, a failed job, or a support ticket, an AI agent can post a formatted message to the right channel and reply in the thread as things progress. Your team gets the signal in Teams without anyone needing to wire up a custom integration.
Daily digests and standup summaries
An AI agent can read the channels that matter, summarize what happened overnight, and post a clean digest every morning. Managers get a one-message catch-up instead of scrolling through a dozen channels.
Meeting scheduling automation
Have an agent create a Teams meeting with the right time and details, update it when plans shift, and list upcoming meetings so everyone stays in sync.
Project and incident channel setup
When a new project or incident kicks off, an AI agent can create the channel and add the right people, so your team is ready to collaborate the moment the work begins.
Cross-platform updates and coordination
Combine Teams with other MCP tools in a single AI agent: pull a record from your CRM, draft a summary, and post it to a Teams channel, or capture key Teams messages into a Google Sheet for tracking.
Why use Gumloop for Microsoft Teams MCP
No Azure app, no Graph API setup
Building your own Microsoft Teams MCP server means registering an Azure app, configuring Microsoft Graph API permissions, and managing access tokens. Instead, Gumloop handles all of that for you: Click Connect, authorize your Microsoft account, and your token refreshes automatically.
Works with multiple MCP clients
Use the Microsoft Teams MCP server endpoint in Claude Desktop, Cursor, or directly inside Gumloop. Same server URL, works with any MCP client.
Chain Teams with 100+ other integrations
Combine Microsoft Teams with Outlook, Google Sheets, Slack, and other MCP tools in a single AI agent. Pull data from one tool, process it with an LLM, and post or schedule in Teams automatically.
Enterprise-grade and scalable
Built for teams, with role-based permissions and dedicated support for Pro users. The Teams MCP respects your existing Microsoft 365 access, so an agent only reaches what your account can.
Pricing includes a free plan
You can test the Microsoft Teams MCP integration on Gumloop’s free tier before committing. Paid plans start at $37/month.
