What is Outlook MCP?

The Outlook MCP server gives AI agents access to your Microsoft Outlook mailbox. That means agents can read messages, search your inbox and folders, send new email, create reply and forward messages, draft messages for review, move mail between folders, archive or trash it, and read incoming attachments. It covers the everyday email tasks your team runs in Outlook, exposed through a single endpoint an AI agent can act on.

If you spend your day triaging a full inbox, writing the same kinds of replies, chasing down an email buried in a thread, or copying message details into other tools, an AI agent can take a lot of that off your plate. Describe what you need, and your AI agent will handle the email work for you.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard that gives AI agents a way to connect to external tools and services. Instead of registering an app in Microsoft Entra, configuring Microsoft Graph scopes, and managing OAuth tokens yourself, you connect your Microsoft account to Gumloop once. After that, you manage your Outlook email just by chatting with your AI agent.

What you can do with Outlook MCP on Gumloop

  • Read and triage your inbox

Pull recent messages, open a specific email, and read the full body and headers. Your AI agent can summarize a long thread, surface what needs a reply, or flag anything urgent so you start the day with a shortlist instead of a wall of unread mail.

  • Search across mail and folders

Find messages by sender, subject, keyword, or date so an AI agent can locate the exact email you need without you scrolling. Useful for pulling the latest from a client or gathering every message about a project.

  • Send new email

Compose and send messages to one or many recipients, including CC and BCC. Your AI agent can write and send routine email for you, like a status update, a follow-up, or an introduction.

  • Reply to and forward threads

Create a reply or reply-all draft in context, then review it or send it right away, and forward a message to the right person. Replies keep the conversation history intact so they land where recipients expect them.

  • Draft messages for review

Have an AI agent prepare a draft and leave it in your mailbox so you can review and send it yourself. Good for sensitive or high-stakes email where you want a human to hit send.

  • Read incoming attachments

Download attachments from a message so an AI agent can pull the contents into Gumloop for processing. Handy for routing invoices, contracts, or reports to the next step.

  • Organize, archive, and clean up mail

Move messages between folders, archive or trash them, and update read or flagged status so an agent can keep your mailbox tidy as it processes mail.

Outlook MCP use cases

Inbox triage for busy operators

Each morning, a Gumloop agent can read your unread Outlook mail, group it by sender or topic, summarize what needs attention, and post the shortlist to Slack. You walk into a prioritized list instead of an overflowing inbox.

Automated follow-ups for sales and account teams

When a deal goes quiet, an AI agent can find the last message in the thread, draft a contextual follow-up in your voice, and either send it or leave it as a draft for your approval. Reps stay on top of every conversation without writing each note by hand.

Support and shared-mailbox routing

Watch a shared Outlook mailbox, have an AI agent read each incoming message, classify it by topic or urgency, and route it: reply with a templated answer, forward to the right owner, or create a ticket in your help desk. Customers get faster responses and nothing slips through.

Email-to-record capture for RevOps

When a customer email arrives, an agent can read the message and any attachment, extract the key details, and write them into a CRM, Google Sheet, or Notion database. The mailbox feeds the rest of your stack instead of becoming a silo.

Recurring outbound for marketing and ops

Pull a recipient list from a sheet or CRM, have an AI agent personalize each message, and send it from Outlook on a schedule. Good for renewal reminders, onboarding nudges, or internal update emails that go out on a regular cadence.

Why use Gumloop for Outlook MCP

  • Connect your Microsoft account once, no app registration or token wrangling

Most Outlook MCP servers you’ll find on GitHub make you register an app in Microsoft Entra, configure Graph API scopes, and manage OAuth refresh tokens yourself. With Gumloop you authorize your Microsoft account once and Gumloop handles authentication. No Azure setup, token management, or coding required.

  • Works with multiple MCP clients

Use the Outlook MCP server endpoint in Claude Desktop, Cursor, or directly inside Gumloop agents. Same server URL, works with any MCP client.

  • Chain Outlook with 100+ other integrations

Combine Outlook with Slack, Google Sheets, Notion, HubSpot, and other MCP tools in a single AI agent. An agent can read an incoming email, process it with an LLM, and write the result to your CRM or notify the right channel.

  • Enterprise-grade and scalable

Built for teams, with role-based permissions and dedicated support for Pro users. For details on Gumloop’s security practices, see trust.gumloop.com.
